Mata
Vaishno Devi is the most visited pilgrim in India. It is situated at
the height of 5,300 ft. The shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi is located in a
cave. 61 kms from Jammu and around 15 kms of the way are walked by
devotees. At the entrance of the cave, the path turns into a
constricted tunnel with cold river “Charan Ganga” running through it.
The
devotees have wade through it to reach the shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi.
The holy cave is very beautiful which is surrounded by Trikuta
Mountains that is structuring a part of lower Himalaya. There are three
deity statues viz. Mahasaraswati, Mahalakshmi, Mahakali.

Vaishno Devi shrine is nestled in Trikuta Mountain. 61 km from north
Jammu in state of J&K and 5,200 feet above the sea level, it is
located in the lower Himalaya. Katra, the town from where the devotees
start their trek, to obeisance before Mata Vaishno Devi. The shrine is
open through out the year but the way is tough during the winter
because route is blocked by snowfall.
Vashno Devi – The Appearance of Goddess Shakti
This temple is dedicated to Vaishnavi which is the human sign of
goddess Shakti. With three heads and Pindies this temple is divinity in
the structure of five and a half feet tall rock. As per the holy books,
the goddess want to achieve her future for finally merging with Lord
Vishnu tacit in the form of human and was born as Vaishnavi. At the
young age, she demonstrated her interest in knowledge that soon out
through her teachers. Then she started searching within herself for
answers and started meditation. After realizing the significance of
meditation she renounced all comforts and for peace meditation she
betook herself to the forests. As per Legends, Vaishnavi had
encountered Lord Rama when she was in forest. Lord Rama advised
her to continue with her sacrament and set up an ashram before Trikuta
Hills.
The Significance
The
most visited shrine consists of holy pindis appearing Mata in three
forms Maha Sarawati, Maha Lakshmi, Maha Kali. Each represent particular
attribute:
- Maha Saraswati symbolizes Satva
– Satva stand for goodness and purity. Mata consecrates devotees with
high intellect and pure thoughts. It enables them to differentiate
between bad and good and help them to select the right way in life.
- Maha Kali symbolizes Tam Guna:
Tam means darkness. In attribute of Maha Kali, she constantly endeavors
to defeat the power of darkness. Maha Lakshmi blesses her ‘Bhakt’ known
as devotees by providing them potency not to loose their heart and
continuously battle with power of darkness.
- Maha Lakshmi symbolizes Raj Guna: Raj
means prosperity, sustenance and well being. She blessed her devotees
with prosperity and wealth to make their life happy and comfortable.
The
combination of these three Devi in single Shakti is called as Mata
Vaishno Devi. There divine blessings make this shrine so Unique. Every
